WELCOME TO AIKIDO YOSHINKAI EDMONTON
Yoshinkan Aikido in Edmonton, Alberta
OUR PHILOSOPHY
At Aikido Yoshinkai Edmonton, our goal is to provide high-quality, accessible, and affordable Yoshinkan Aikido sessions to the Edmonton community. Our unique approach, which combines traditional and innovative martial arts methods and techniques, sets us apart from other martial arts schools. People often say Aikido doesn’t work in a fight — but that depends on what kind of fight you mean. Aikido isn’t a sport; it’s a civilian self-defence system based on principles of timing, distance, and control. It’s designed for situations with no rules, no referee, and no intention to hurt anyone — the opposite of sport fighting. When practiced with real resistance, Aikido’s techniques for entering, off-balancing, and joint control are highly effective for ending a confrontation quickly and safely. It teaches awareness, composure, and proportional responses — qualities that matter far more in real violence than points or knockouts. Founded in 2007, Aikido Yoshinkai Edmonton has instructors with diverse expertise who are here to guide you through every step of your learning journey. Whether you are a beginner or a seasoned practitioner, there’s always room to refine your skills.
